The example below illustrates the usage of Element Object getAttributeNodeNS method -
<!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> function loadXMLDoc(filename) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } else // code for IE5 and IE6 { xhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xhttp.open("GET",filename,false); xhttp.send(); return xhttp.responseXML; } </script> </head> <body> <script> xmlDoc = loadXMLDoc("/dom/node_ns.xml"); x = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("FirstName")[0]; ns="http://www.webdesigntutorialz.com/technical/"; var attributenodens = x.getAttributeNodeNS(ns,"lang") document.write("nodename: "+attributenodens.nodeName); document.write("<br>nodevalue: "+attributenodens.nodeValue); </script> </body> </html>
Output
Save this file as elementmethod_getattributenodens.html on the server's path (this file and node_ns.xml should be on the same path in your server). This is going to give us the following output below -
nodename: e:lang nodevalue: en
