The below example illustrates the usage of the Element Object hasAttribute method -

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
   <head>
      <script>
         function loadXMLDoc(filename) {
            if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
               xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
            } else // code for IE5 and IE6 {
               xhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
            }
            xhttp.open("GET",filename,false);
            xhttp.send();
            return xhttp.responseXML;
         }
      </script>
   </head>
   <body>
      <script>
         xmlDoc = loadXMLDoc("/dom/node_ns.xml");
         x = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("Employee")[0];
         document.write("value for hasattribute is: "+x.hasAttribute("category"));
      </script>
   </body>
</html>

Output

Save this file as elementmethod_hasattribute.html on the server path (this file and the node_ns.xml should be on the same path in your server). This is going to give us the following output below -

value for hasattribute is: true
