   <Employee category = "Non-Technical">
   <Employee category = "Management">

The following example illustrates the usage of the removeNamedItemNS method -

<!DOCTYPE html>
         function loadXMLDoc(filename) {
            if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {
                xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
            } else // code for IE5 and IE6 {
                xhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
            return xhttp.responseXML;
         xmlDoc = loadXMLDoc("/dom/node_ns.xml");

         xmlDoc = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('e:FirstName')[0].attributes;
         document.write("Removed Item Attribute node is :- ");

Save this file as namednodemapmethod_removenameditemns.html on the server path (this file and node.xml should be on the same path in your server). This gives us the following output below -

Removed Item Attribute node is :- e:language
