PHP | substr_count() Function

Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP substr_count() Function.

The built-in substr_count() function counts the number of substring occurrences.

Note: This PHP function is case-sensitive.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

substr_count(string,substring,start,length)

READ: PHP | strtr() Function

Parameter Details

Sr.No	Parameters & Description
1	string It is used to specify string to check
2	substring It specifies the string searching for
3	start It specifies when in string to start searching
4	length It specifies length of a string

Return Value

This built-in function returns the number of times the substring occurs in the string.

Example

Try out the example below -

   echo substr_count("nkparakennedy","kennedy");
?>

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -
