Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP stristr() Function.

The PHP stristr() function searches for the first occurrence of a string inside another string.

Note: This function is case-insensitive. For a case-sensitive() search, make use of the PHP strstr() function. This PHP function is binary-safe.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

string stristr ( string $haystack , mixed $needle [, bool $before_needle = false ] )

Return Value

This built-in function in PHP returns the rest of the string or else string is not found.

Example

Try out the example below -

   echo stristr("nkpara kennedy","kennedy",true);
?>

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

nkpara
