PHP sprintf() Function


Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP sprintf() Function.

The PHP sprintf() function is used to output a formatted string.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

string sprintf ( string $format [, mixed $args [, mixed $... ]] )


Parameter Details

format

It specifies the string and how to format the variable in it

arg1

It specifies the first argument to be inserted in the formatted string

arg2

It specifies the second argument to be inserted in the formatted string


Return Value

This function returns the formatted string.

Example

Try out the example below -

   $number = 123;
   $txt = sprintf("%f",$number);
   
   echo $txt;
?>

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

123.000000
