PHP similar_text() Function


Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP similar_text() Function.

The PHP similar_text() Function calculates the similarity between two strings and then returns the number of matching characters in the two strings.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

int similar_text ( string $first , string $second [, float &$percent ] )


Parameter Details

It contains the information about the first string

Second

It contains the information about the second string

percent

By passing a reference as third argument, similar_text() will calculate the similarity in percent for you


Return Value

This built-in function returns the number of matching characters between both strings.

Example

Try out the example below -

   echo similar_text("code","coders");
?>

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -
