Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP sha1() Function.

The built-in PHP sha1() function calculates the SHA-1 hash of a string.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

string sha1 ( string $str [, bool $raw_output = false ] )


Parameter Details

It contains the information about the filename of the file to hash

raw_output

It is a boolean value that indicates the output


Return Value

This built-in function returns the SHA1 hash as a string on success, or false on failure.

Example

Try out the example below -

   echo sha1($input);
?>

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

05115736afd9930343193361bcca3a8edd30f137
