PHP nl2br() Function


Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP nl2br() Function.

The built-in nl2br() function is used to insert HTML line breaks (<br> or <br />) in front of each newline (\n) in a string.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

string nl2br ( string $string [, bool $is_xhtml = true ] )


Parameter Details

It contains the information about input string.

is_xhtml

It contains the information about whether to use XHTML compatible line breaks or not.


Return Value

This function returns the altered string.

Example

Try out the example below -

   echo nl2br("Webdesigntutorialz.\nAnother line."); 
?>

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

Webdesigntutorialz.
Another line.
