The built-in metaphone() function is used to calculate the metaphone key of a string.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

string metaphone ( string $str [, int $phonemes = 0 ] )

It specifies the length of metaphone key.


Return Value

This function returns the metaphone key as a string, or false on failure.
