PHP md5() Function


Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP md5() Function.

The built-in PHP md5() function is used to calculate the md5 hash of a string. It uses the RSA Data Security, IncMD5 Message-Digest Algorithm.

syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

string md5 ( string $str [, bool $raw_output = false ] )


Parameter Details

It contains the information about string.

raw_output

When TRUE, returns the digest in raw binary format with a length of 16.


Return Value

This function in PHP returns the hash as a 32-character hexadecimal number.

Example

Try out the example below -

   $str = "webdesigntutorialz";
   
   echo md5($str);
?>

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

8ac3a795b243fe5a5e0c970f31cd318
