PHP gethostbynamel() Function


Hello folks! welcome back to a new edition of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP gethostbynamel() Function.

The built-in PHP gethostbynamel() function is used in getting the list of IPv4 addresses corresponding to a given internet host name.

Syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

array gethostbynamel ( string $hostname )


Parameter Details

hostname

It gives the corresponding host name.


Return Value

This PHP function returns an array of IPv4 addresses or FALSE if host name could not be resolved.

Example

Try out the following example below -

   $hosts = gethostbynamel('www.webdesigntutorialz.com');
   
   print_r($hosts);
?>

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result below -

Array ( [0] => 117.18.237.42 )
