The built-in PHP chdir() function changes the PHP's current directory to the passed directory.

Syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

bool chdir ( string $directory )


Parameter Details

Return Value

This built-in PHP function returns TRUE on success or FALSE on failure.

Example

Try out the below example -

   echo getcwd() . "\n";
   
   chdir('html');
   
   echo getcwd() . "\n";
?> 

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

 /home/webdesigntutorialz
/home/webdesigntutorialz/html
