PHP pos() Function


Hello folks! welcome back to a new section of our tutorial on PHP. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the PHP pos() Function.

The built-in pos() function is an alias of the current() function and returns the value of the array's element that is currently pointed to by the internal pointer. It does not move the pointer in any way. If the internal pointer points beyond the end of the elements list, it returns False.

Syntax

Following below is the syntax to use this function -

pos ( $array );


Parameter Details

It specifies an array


Return Value

This function returns the current element in an array.

Example

Try out the below example -

<?php
   $input = array('foot', 'bike', 'car', 'plane');
   $mode = pos($input); 
   print "$mode <br />";
?> 

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

foot
