Python os.mkfifo() Method with example



Hello dear readers! Welcome back to another section of our tutorial on Python. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be studying about the Os mkfifo() method.

The Python os mkfifo() method creates a FIFO named path with numeric mode. The default mode is 0666. The current unmask value is first masked out.

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for Python Os mkfifo() method -

os.mkfifo(path[,  mode] )


Parameter Details

  • path - The path, which needs to be created.
  • mode - The Mode of the named path to be given.

Return Value

It does not return any value.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

# !/usr/bin/python

import os, sys

# Path to be created
path = "/tmp/hourly"

os.mkfifo( path, 0644 )

print "Path is created"

Output
When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

Path is created
