Python os.makedirs() Method with example

The Python os makedirs() method is a repetitive directory creation function. Like mkdir() method, but makes all mid-level& directories that are needed to contain the leaf directory.

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for Python Os makedirs() method -

os.makedirs(path[,  mode] )

Parameter Details

• path - The path, which needs to be created repeatedly.

• mode - The Mode of the directories to be given.

Return Value

It does not return any value.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

#!/usr/bin/python

import os, sys

# Path to be created
path = "/tmp/home/monthly/daily"

os.makedirs( path, 0755 );

print "Path is created"

Output

When the above code is executed, it will produce the following result -

Path is created
