Python String zfill() Method with example



Hello dear readers! Welcome back to another edition of our tutorial on Python. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be discussing about the Python String zfill() method.

The Python String zfill() method pads the string on the left with zeros to fill width.

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for Python String zfill() method -

str.zfill(width)

Parameter Details

  • width - This is the final width of the string. It is the width that we would get after filling out the zeros.

Return Value

This returns a padded string.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

#!/usr/bin/python

str = "this is string example....wow!!!";
print str.zfill(40)
print str.zfill(50)

Output
Below is the output of the above example -

00000000this is string example....wow!!!
000000000000000000this is string example....wow!!!
