WordPress Edit Media - The Definitive Guide



Hello dear readers! Welcome back to another edition of our tutorial on WordPress. In this tutorial post, we will be dropping you guys the step by step guide to Edit Media Files.

You can manage all information about your media files saved in the Media Library.

The following are the simple steps that can be used in Editing Media Files in WordPress -

Step 1 - Click on Media → Library and then click on the name of the media item or the edit link.



Step 2 - A list of the media files is going to get displayed. Select any of the images to edit.


Step 3 - You can now view the edit main page at the right side with some few options.


RECOMMENDED: Html Comments

  • URL - You can read only a link from a media file.
  • Title - It displays the name of the media files. Title is often shown in galleries and also the attachment pages if the theme are designed to show it.
  • Permalink - It is a URL of the media file attachment page. This is also a link to view the attachment page.
  • Edit image button - This lets you edit the image position, such as to crop, scale, rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise, etc.
  • Caption - A brief explanation of the media file.
  • Alternate Text - The alt text for the image, that is used to describe the media file.
  • Description - An explanation of your media file.
  • Delete Permanently - Delete your media file permanently.

Step 4 - Once you finish editing all the fields, you can then click on Update button to save the changes made to the image.
