Python String strip() Method

Hello dear readers! Welcome back to another edition of our tutorial on Python. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be discussing about the Python String strip() method.

The Python string strip() method returns a copy of the string in which all chars in the string have been stripped from the beginning and the end of the string.

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for Python String strip() method -

str.strip( [chars] );

Parameter Details

• chars - The characters to be removed from the beginning or end of the string.

Return Value

This method returns a copy of the string in which all the chars have been stripped from the beginning and end of the string.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

#!/usr/bin/python

str = "0000000this is string example....wow!!!0000000";
print str.strip( '0' )

Output

Below is the output of the above example -

this is string example....wow!!!
