Python String lstrip() Method

The Python string lstrip() method returns a copy of the string in which all the chars in the string have been stripped from the beginning of the string.

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for Python String lstrip() method -

str.lstrip( [chars] )

Parameter Details

• chars - You can supply what chars to be trimmed.

Return Value

This method returns a copy of the string in which all the chars have been stripped from the beginning of the string.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

#!/usr/bin/python

str = "     this is string example....wow!!!     ";
print str.lstrip()
str = "88888888this is string example....wow!!!8888888";
print str.lstrip('8')

Output

Below is the output of the above example -

this is string example....wow!!!
this is string example....wow!!!8888888
