The Python String len() method returns the length of a string.

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for Python String len() method -

len( str )

Return Value

This returns the length of a string.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

#!/usr/bin/python

str = "this is string example....wow!!!";
print "Length of the string: ", len(str)

Output
Below is the output of the above example -

Length of the string:  32
