Python String Isalpha() Method



Hello guys! Welcome back to another section of my tutorial on Python. In this tutorial guide, we are going to be discussing about the Python String Isalpha() method.

The Python String isalpha() method checks whether the string consists of the alphabetic characters only. 

Syntax

The following below is the syntax for the Python String isalpha() method -

str.isalpha()

Parameter Details

  • NA.

Return Value

It returns True if all characters in the string are alphabetic and there is at least one character, otherwise it returns False.

Example

The following below is a simple example -

#!/usr/bin/python

str = "this";  # No space & digit in this string
print str.isalpha()

str = "this is string example....wow!!!";
print str.isalpha()

Output
Below is the output of the above example -

True
False
