How to Add Pages in WordPress



Hello dear readers! Welcome back to another edition of our tutorial on WordPress. In this tutorial post, we will be dropping you guys with the steps on how to Add Pages to your WordPress blog.

Adding Pages is similar to adding posts. Pages can be discribed as static contents and often do not change it's displayed information.

Following below are the steps that can be used for adding pages in WordPress.

Step 1 - Click on the Pages → Add New button.



Step 2 - The editor page is going to get displayed just as shown in the screenshot below. This editor page has two tabs, Visual and Text. Text can be inserted into any of these tabs. In this tutorial guide, we will be making use of the Visual tab.


The following are the details of the fields on the text editor page -

Title

It is used to write the title of the article, which is later displayed on the page.

The Permalink shows the potential URL for the page below the title. The URL is generated based on the given title.

WYSIWYG EDITOR

WYSIWYG Editor is very similar to a word processor interface where you can edit the content of your article.


Following are the options present on WYSIWYG editor -

  • Bold Button - Used to make your font bold.
  • Italic - Used to italicize your font.
  • Word Strike - Used to strike through the text.
  • Bullet List - Adds bullets to the content.
  • Number List - Used to add numbered list to content.
  • Blockquote - Quotes the text.
  • Horizontal Line - It creates horizontal line between the sentences.
  • Left Align - Sets the content on the left side of the page.
  • Right Align - This sets the content on the right side of the page.
  • Justify - Used to justify the content of the page.
  • Add Link - It adds a link to your content. When you click on this button, the following page gets displayed.



Following are the fields present in the insert/edit link -

  • URL - Enter the URL you want to link to.
  • Link Text - Insert the text you want to enter into the URL.
  • Open link in new window/tab - Opens the linked page in a new window or tab.
  • Or link to existing account - Links to an existing account page by selecting that page from the given list. When you click on existing page, then you get a link created in the URL section.


  • Remove Link - It deletes the particular link added for text or content.
  • Read more tag - It adds Read More tag to your page.
  • Toolbar toggle - By clicking this, you get another toolbar as shown below.

RECOMMENDED: Css Outline


  • Paragraph - It selects the heading as required for the text from the drop down.
  • Underline - It underlines the sentences.
  • Justify - Used to justify the content.
  • Text Color - It sets color to the texts.
  • Paste as Text - It pastes your texts.
  • Clear Formatting - It deletes selected content.
  • Special Character - It inserts special characters required for your content.


  • Increase Indent - Increases the page indent.
  • Decrease Indent - Decreases the page indent.
  • Undo - It reverses the most recent command.
  • Redo - Opposite of undo.


Text Insertion

Used for writing the content of an article.

Publish

Used for publishing the page to the user.

Page Attribute
Page attributes module allows you in selecting the parents for your specific page. You can also set the order of the pages.

  • Parent - It allows you select parent page.
  • Order - Sets the order of the page.
