How to install WordPress



Hello dear readers! Welcome back to another edition of our tutorial on WordPress. In this tutorial post, we will be dropping you the steps on how you can install and configure WordPress in your system.

STEP ONE: Download WordPress

You need to download WordPress from the official WordPress site. When you open up the website you will see a user interface Just like the one that is shown in the below screenshot -


STEP 2: Create Database

  • WordPress requires a MySQL database. So next step is to create a new empty database with user and password (for example with user set it as root and you can also set the password as root). But if you not comfortable with using "root" , you can use any value that is convenient to you.
  • Then continue with the rest of the installation process.


STEP 3: Set Up Wizard

It is very easy to set up WordPress to your machine. Follow the simple steps below to set up Wizard and finish installation -

Step ( i ) - Extract the downloaded WordPress folder and then upload it into your web server or your local host.

Step ( ii ) - Open your web browser and navigate to Your WordPress file path. Once done properly, the first screen of the installer is going to display on the screen.


Select your preferred language for making use of the WordPress and click on continue.

Step ( iii ) - This step is where you can view all required information for the database before you can proceed with the installation.


Click on Let's go!

Step ( iv ) - In this step, you have to enter all the information about the MySQL database. You can use the screenshot below as guidance.


  • Database Name - Here enter the database name that you created in MySQL database for WordPress.
  • User Name - Enter the user name which you set in your MySQL database.
  • Password - Here enter the password that you have set for MySQL database.
  • Database Host - Enter the host name, by default it will be localhost.
  • Table Prefix - It is used to add prefix to the table in the database which helps you in running multiple websites on the same database. It takes the default value.

After filling out all of the required information, click on the Submit button.

Step ( v ) - WordPress scans into the database settings and then gives you a confirmation screen as shown in the below screenshot.


Click on Run the install

Step ( vi ) - Enter administrative information as shown in the below screenshot.


The administrative information has the following fields below -

  • Site Title - Enter the title of the site which you are going to create using WordPress.
  • User Name - Enter your user name that you will be using to log into WordPress.
  • Password Twice - Enter the password two times in order to protect your website.
  • Your E-mail - Here enter your email which helps you to do password recovery or any other update.
  • Privacy - It helps the Search Engine to index this website after checking the checkbox.

After filling out all of the required information, click on the Install WordPress button.

Step ( vii ) - After the installation is complete, you are going to get a screen displaying success.


You can also view your Username and Password details which was added to WordPress.

Click on the Log In button.

Step ( viii ) - After clicking on login, you will get a WordPress Admin panel as shown in the screen shot below.


Enter the Username and Password which you provided during the installation process and click on the Log In button.
